The Journey

Everyone has a journey, whether it is connected to fitness or life.  We all have goals and things we want to do better.  We all aspire to look and feel better in some way. It is important to remember that you look the way you do based on what you have or haven't done. You are as talented at something based on the time and effort you put into practicing and bettering yourself. You always have to start somewhere. So please remember when you see someone further along in their journey that they once started exactly where you started.

My Journey:

My Journey started in 2010 when I looked in the mirror and was not happy with what I saw. 156 pounds post baby realizing it was no longer baby weight. (The baby was 5, Yes 5). I realized I needed help and could not do it on my own. I started boot camp at the YMCA and only went for about a month because I developed a knee injury. I gave up and quit exercising. It was hard and I was hurting. Acceptable? Not so much.

In early 2011 I decided that I really was tired of feeling fatigued, and in my eyes fat, and tried again. I Started Boot Camp at a church with a trainer. That trainer turned out would be my future husband, I just didn't know it yet.  I made the pact with myself right there at 156 pounds I was going to work as hard as possible. I started to clean up my nutrition and worked out 4 to 5 days a week.  When I say 4 to 5 days a week I mean 4 to 5 days a week of giving my complete all, pushing further than I thought I could push.  That usually resulted in lots of sweat, occasional vomit, and sometimes tears.

Results started happening.  I remember one day in class one of the regular people I saw weekly said "You have lost a lot of weight. You look great. You are shrinking before our eyes." (By the way that person was Shane Sherman and he still is working out with us. Thank you Shane, your words changed my life).  That made my day and I remember at that point everything changed. My mindset and views on what I could accomplish changed.

By October 2011 I was down to 119 pounds.  I had done it.  It was by no means easy but the journey was worth it by far. Not only had I lost the baby weight and was feeling really good about myself, I had grown as a person.  I had a new found confidence that I never knew I had and I figured out that I was a super competitive person. The competitive fire was deep inside me and I had let it out. I knew that fitness was my thing. I loved every aspect of it.

I now workout every day and it's my job now to help others with their transformations.  I am now a solid 139 pounds (Yes i have packed on 20 pounds of muscle). I started at 23% body fat and I am now 13%. The number on the scale is not important. Its all about what is in the mirror. I am in the best shape of my life. I saw it through and did not give up.  I look back at the journey and I am thankful that I kept going. BEST decision of my life!

The Conclusion:

Not everyone's journey begins and ends the same way.  There will be bumps in the road and it will not always be easy, but trust me when I say it is always worth it. Remember when you see someone further along in their journey than you are, remember that they started where you are starting.  Notice I did not say end, because there is no end. Sometimes I hear women say that they don't want to workout with skinny or fit girls.  Those skinny or fit girls were not always that way.  They simply put in months or years of hard work to get there. Please remember that we will not look down upon the people starting their journey because we were all there. Just respect that they have been on the journey longer than you have and are still striving toward being better.

At No Limits Fitness we strive to help people on their journey. I love hearing and seeing people get results.  The best texts or comments are the ones where someone lost weight, had to buy smaller clothes,  accomplished something they couldn't do before, or they feel better. I get so excited to see this and it drives me. I love my job and especially our No Limits Fitness family. I am blessed beyond belief to be on this journey with these people. I love these people!
